Our guests always ask "How did you guys come up with that name?" and "what is a Fishwife?"

It all started when my Grandfather said "if I ever have a restaurant I will call it the Fishwife. He passed on and a few years later my parents decided to put their talents to work by starting a seafood restaurant.

In tribute, the name Fishwife immediately came to mind. Now what exactly is a fishwife?

Originally used in Great Britain, fishwives were just that - the wife of a fisherman who sold her husband's catch on the streets. They were known as tough, hardworking women.

We have been upholding this reputation for fifteen years now by serving the freshest seafood available while maintaining our traditional yet creative approach to cuisine.
